Dubai has successfully tested a two-seat flying taxi by the German company Volocopter. It went up as high as 200 m and hovered for five minutes.

Dubai expects the multicopter to transport people sometime in the future. The vehicle will be called via an app and will be unmanned. It is equipped with a spare battery, rotors and a couple of parachutes.

The official launch date for the service is still not set. However, Volocopter is keen to launch it as a fully functional flying taxi in five years. Previously, the Dubai authorities have announced they will launch it soon, and by 2030 a quarter of cars will become unmanned.
