Mecca at the Silver Stamps

At the meeting of the "Russia-Islamic World" strategic vision group that was held in Moscow, June 11-12, the collection "Mecca in silver: Hajj symbolism in the Moscow Mint silver stamps" was presented.

In 2013 Moscow Mint of the Russian Federation Ministry of Finance used an exclusive technology to issue a collection of 40 replica stamps made of 999 fine silver and dedicated it to the Holy City of Mecca. The original stamps were issued at different times by 24 Islamic countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Comoros, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen.

Silver replicas exactly duplicate the original postage stamps, and have already become the historical artifacts themselves.
To add silver stamps of this commemorative collection a three-dimensional volume effect, Moscow Mint masters applied preliminary sculptural hand-modeling of embossed details. Each stamp is produced in actual size. The collection-creating process took three years and involved a great number of scientists, experts, technologists, engineers, designers, sculptors and artists.
The fact that silver stamps are limited edition immediately turned the Collection into rare antiques. True connoisseurs of historical values and those people with fastidious taste in art for sure will appreciate beauty and finesse of precious stamps. Unique aesthetic solution of the Collection provides for it eternal lifetime, being recognized as highly significant object d’art which has no analogues in the world.
It’s not a coincidence that Collection includes 40 stamps. «40» has become the great number, which has a strong significance in many world religions and means harmony of nature’s visible and hidden forms, the breakpoint between “parallel worlds” during the passage of soul from the material embodiment into another, when everything ends, and the relative rest, where everything born and dies at the same time, is merged by the absolute rest, where nothing could be born or die. As the result Heavenly Peace is being born eternally and continuously — the one of main hypostasis of God. In Islam like in many other religions, “40” is considered to be a sacral number and symbolizes change, conciliation and return to principle. In the age of forty Prophet Muhammad heard the voice of Allah, and the Holy Qur’an is read every forty days.
Every person searching for spiritual knowledge needs to come to the truth to get rid of any doubts arising in one’s soul during the spiritual search. Holy Mecca is one of that kind of truth, when the darkness of ignorance disappears due to light of knowledge and the way in the darkness becomes visible.
