An Egyptian delegation led by the late president's son paid a visit to the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences upon an invitation to mark the 200th anniversary since its establishment.
As part of his trip, Abdul Hakim Nasser met with Veniamin Popov, Coordinator of the Russia – Islamic World strategic vision group. They discussed practical issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. In particular, they arranged for the Egyptian-Russian Culture and Science Foundation to translate into Arabic the recently published Nasser's Pyramid, a book on the late president by Russian diplomat Andrey Baklanov. The publication in Russian was made possible thanks to the Group's efforts.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Coordinator Elana Eshba, Group Member and Vice-President of the Institute of Oriental Studies Vitaly Naumkin, and a number of Egyptian diplomats.
