Ahead of the New Year holiday, Russians tend to look back at the outgoing year. For the Russia - Islamic World strategic vision group, 2017 has been a significant and a busy year marking a major step forward. Set up upon the Russian President's initiative, the Group's mission has been to actively promote multilateral ties. The Group's annual meeting took place in Grozny in May, and was attended by many Russian regions with a Muslim majority. The meeting in the Chechen capital was followed up with Kazan Summit 2017 Forum in Tatarstan featuring more than 1,000 participants. 


The RIW group has a mission to further ideas and projects to promote relations between ethnic groups and dialogue between religions.

The dialogue focuses on the fight against terrorist ideology. The RIW set up a website to reach out to a wide audience in the Russian, English and Arabic languages. The Group launched a series of major publishing projects.
The conference on the life and works of Chinghiz Aitmatov has been one of the year's highlghts. It was an honor for me to take part in it. There is growing awareness about the Group's activities. The OIC has expressed eagerness to work together with the Group. I would like to praise the Group Coordinator for his active and productive guidance
