The Russia – Islamic World strategic vision group and the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) haved signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The Centre’s CEO Abdulla Mohammed Al Awar and RIW Group Coordinator Veniamin Popov signed the document on December 28, 2017 in the presence of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and the Centre’s Chairman and Minister of Economy His Excellency Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri.
The Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) was established in December 2013 to transform Dubai into the ‘Capital of the Islamic Economy’, as envisioned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The parties agreed to set up a working group to draft the roadmap on all areas of cooperation in promoting the principles of Islamic economy. They also agreed that the 10th anniversary economic summit KazanSummit hosted by Russia and the OIC member states will have the Halal way of life as its main theme.
The signing of the memorandum took place as part of the working visit by Rustam Minnikhanov to the UAE. He visited the Centre to learn about the new economy strategy to promote the Halal way of life put forward in 2017.
Tatarstan President said that Islamic banking is gaining momentum in the world community and is becoming its integral part.
Following the ceremony, UAE specialists said they were willing to assist in organizing specialized roundtables at the 2018 KazanSummit.
