Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded Tatarstan leader Rustam Minnikhanov with the Order of Alexander Nevsky. The decree was issued as early as March but the official ceremony took place in the Moscow Kremlin.
The Order of Alexander Nevsky is conferred to Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, "for distinctive meritorious service to the homeland and major contribution in strengthening Russia's authority on the international arena.
The Order of Alexander Nevsky was set up in 1725.
