The Dag Hammarskjöld Library, part of the United Nations headquarters, opened a display of photos to mark the 90th anniversary of the renowned Soviet and Kyrgyz author, one of the founding fathers of the RIW Group, Chinghiz Aitmatov. The ceremony was attended by Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, and other dignitaries.
In his welcoming address, the president focused on the role of Aitmatov’s legacy for the entire planet.
“THE KYRGYZ PEOPLE ARE HAPPY TO SEE THAT THE EVENT IS TAKING PLACE AT THE UN LIBRARY. CHINGHIZ AITMATOV WAS AN OUTSTANDING AUTHOR AND MODERN PHILOSOPHER. HE BELONGS TO HUMANITY.”
The exhibition is held with the support of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey.
