The call for nominations for the 2017 Rustam Minnikhanov award is now closed. The award winners were announced at the annual meeting of the Russia – Islamic World group in Grozny on May 17. The Russia – Islamic World group chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has been publishing works by contestants since the August of 2016. The best entry will get a prize of 500,000 roubles.
The organizers received 145 submissions including 28 videos (video stories, documentaries, interviews), nine radio shows, 10 science books, 11 research papers, one author submitted a painting, seven verses (translations included), eight fiction stories and nine interviews. Most of the entries were filed from Moscow and the Moscow Region (28), as well as from Tatarstan (27). The awards ceremony will take place in Kazan on May 18 as part of the IX International Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit 2017 forum.
The national Russia – Islamic World prize is awarded for contribution to promoting awareness about true Islam, reaching better understanding between Russian ethnic groups and bringing closer relations between states and religions.
