During the meeting with Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia remains committed to its principled position that “Libya’s key forces must reach an agreement on the country’s future themselves”.
“We believe that all mediation ideas and efforts shall be done under the aegis of the UN,” RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying.
Moscow believes that these activities “shall not seek a specific recipe but rather help create a favourable environment for dialogue between Libya’s key stakeholder so that they could reach an agreement on their country’s future”.
